Just Look at Ya!

We always start our day off the same. The three of us cuddle up on the couch while the cool morning breeze comes through the windows as we discuss what we should do today and say our goodbyes to Daddy as he goes off to work hard for his family.

This morning as I cradled Grace, Riley sat next to me, holding an old toy cell phone, wearing just a chocolate milk {its his morning coffee}stained jammy shirt and cute little whitey tighties. His knees bearing the marks of a fall or two as he was running to chase a ball, or bug or just to run for the fun of it. Grace laid there as I noticed her long flowing pieces of hair that are refusing to fall out with the rest of it, a fading reminder of her hair at birth just 7 weeks ago. She smiles up at me as her steel blues eyes catch the light of the morning sun, her arms an legs moving uncoordinated.

I'm blessed.

I was just thinking this morning as I looked around at my house, messy from a weekend of ignored chores in order to spend lots of quality time with my hubs, that its easy to get weary. Weary of the day to day. Weary of correcting children of the same offense for what seems like the 90th time. Weary of cleaning and re-cleaning, etc. We're told not to lose heart, to not give up, to stay hopeful of the Lord's will and promises and to not grow weary.

And let us now grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Galatians 6:9

This morning, I'm choosing to fight weariness by taking the time in my schedule, and pulling away from my to-dos to really look at my children. I know there have been entire days that I've gone without really taking a minute to look deeply at my children. This morning I feel refreshed simply by looking at my kids. I had that look and moment that take your breath away. That moment you say to yourself, "wow, thank you for giving me them Lord." That moment you realize just how quickly they're growing. That moment you know you're blessed, and even though its hard and wearisome work, its worth it. They're worth it and the One who made them is worth it.
