A whole 'nother level of being domestic

okkkkk, I did it people. I made homemade Wheat Thins. Yes, I did. First I found the recipe here from Jess at Jess Cookin It. {I told you people she's amazing!} Annnnnnyways. I thought I should share this with you well because I actually made crackers and I didn't know you could nor did I know how incredibly easy it is! Seriously I did it it about 15 mins. And this was my clean up....
Any recipe that gives me a total of 5 dishes to wash and takes me 15 minutes, I'm sold. Plus they're actually really delish! And as Jess points out, you totally know what's in them and you can feel really good and all suzy homemaker about feeding them to your chillins. There's a total of 7, yes SEVEN ingredients....
Homemade Wheat Thins
Recipe from King Arthur Whole Grain Baking Cookbook
1 1/4 cup 100% whole wheat white flour
1 1/2 T sugar
1/2 tsp salt, plus fine sea salt for topping
1/4 tsp paprika
4 T butter
1/4 cup water (maybe a tablespoon more if needed)
1/4 tsp vanilla

The only thing I might do different next time is just salt them when I'm done mixing and rolling and right before baking. I thought they were salty, but who knows my taster is a little off because of allergies and also because I may or may not have measured, oops! Regardless, Tyler loved them and ate some exclaiming "they actually taste like Wheat Thins!" I had the same reaction, I don't really know what I was expecting to taste, but when I ate some and it reminded me of a regular wheat thin, I was surprised. Looks like Jess didn't let us down! Riley loved it too....

and as he ate them I just couldn't help but feel like my healthy mom skills stepped up a notch because of this recipe. And making my own crackers made me feel like a pioneer woman, I should can everything, have a massive garden, and make my own bread everyday....we'll see about that...Enjoy!
